It Takes But A Moment To Make The World A Cleaner Place
I used to walk by trash on the floor without thinking it was my responsibility. I didn’t put it there so why should I pick it up? Besides, it’s on the street, it’s not in my house or garden.
I now have a different view. Sure I didn’t put the garbage there, but if I don’t pick it up, I have also not made the world a cleaner nicer place.
It takes a few seconds to pick up a piece of litter and dispose of it. Imagine if everyone picked one piece of trash up off the floor each day. Our world would be so much cleaner.
Your kids also learn through your example. If they see you picking up litter from the floor and disposing of it, they will probably not grow into adults who are indifferent to garbage littering our world. It will be second nature to them to pick up trash they see lying around.
It’s a small act, but one that can have a great impact.

Although we didn’t have great deal inside the school, the children did copy my habit of picking things up as I walked around. They got very cross when the litter in their playground was not theirs but had been blown by the wind!
people dropping litter drives me insane! I live in a beautiful rural hamlet and some folk maybe drive through to admire the lovely scenery…so why the heck do they throw a can out of the window, or fag ends or paper tissues….I always pick it up, of course – and even stop the car to pick up from the road if I see any. Ignorance.
