The Kindness Club: Week 5 Prompt
It’s week 5 of the Kindness Club. Time has a way of passing quickly.
Thank you to all of you who have been reading and joining in even if you are not posting or commenting.
Last week’s Kindness Club prompt was to learn to say I’m sorry and to say it right away when you realize you have wronged someone. Like I wrote on Sunday, it was nice for me to see that my kids are learning to say I am sorry the right way. Thankfully I didn’t have much sorrying to say.
Do continue to be vigilant about saying you’re sorry. It’s a small world that really does have a huge impact.
This week’s prompt is to visit an elderly person who needs the company. It does not have to be a long visit. Even 10 or 15 minutes are appreciated.

It is amazing how even a little bit of time and attention can brighten a person’s day. Especially when that person is someone who is not as independent anymore or just lonely.
Think of someone who you know would appreciate a visit and then just go pay them a visit. It does not have to be a long visit to make a difference in that person’s day. I think you will also be surprised how much of a difference it will make in your day too. When we help others, we end up lifting ourselves up as well. We bring joy into our lives when we bring joy into other people’s lives.
So go and visit an elderly lonely person once a week. I think we can all find a way to fit that into our schedules. We would want someone to do the same for us.
Write a blog post about your visit(s) and come back on Sunday to link up your posts. (I will leave the McLinky up from Sunday till Sunday.)
If anyone who is not a blogger wants to join in please feel free to email me at and I will put your story up on my blog.

This is so true, yes my mum needs me to do things for her, but most of all she just needs the company, she is lonely
This is a lovely prompt. I can’t believe it is week 5 either, where is the time going?
Jen.
Love this… we’ll be doing it for sure. Great idea!
Fantastic prompt, thank you! Every month I write a letter to my grandmother in lieu of a visit, since I live on the other side of the country from her. She does not have a computer, so I send her a good “old fashioned” handwritten note. It is a way to keep in touch and try to keep away her loneliness even for a few moments. But your prompt reminded me that I need to do more. So I called her for an in person chat. I am ashamed that I never thought of doing this before… But I think I will keep it up.
Also, I meant to tell you that one of your earlier prompts totally worked… A few weeks back I made an effort to smile at strangers as I passed them on the subway – and they mostly smiled back. And you know what? It totally brightened my day, hopefully they were encouraged as well.
Thank you for starting this series of kindness!
