Trust Is Good-It Doesn't Mean You Have To Be Naive

Trust Is Good-It Doesn't Mean You Have To Be Naive

Well maybe sometimes trust and being naive do go hand in hand. Me personally, I’d rather be naive and trust freely than to start worrying about people’s possible motives. (Photo courtesy of Miguel de Luis ) In my 40 years on this earth because of my inherent trust of people, I have been labeled many things. My favorite so called insult is being called a salesman’s dream. I actually like that one because being married to someone … Read entire article »

Happiness Is A Means Of Travel Not A Destination

Happiness Is A Means Of Travel Not A Destination

That is a quote that has always resonated with me. I don’t know who said it but I think it is one of the all time best quotes. It is simple but has so much wisdom to it. (Photo courtesy of FutureAtlas.com ) Yet like many things in this life, even if you believe that something is true, it does not always mean that it is easy to internalize, achieve and live it. Happiness in your day … Read entire article »

Thank The Overlooked People In Your Life

Thank The Overlooked People In Your Life

Thank you. Two small words that can make a tremendous difference in a person’s day. I will even go so far as to say that sometimes those two words can make a difference not just in a person’s day but in their life. We all know the importance of saying thank you to people and we all know how it feels to be thanked and appreciated. Yet sometimes people we should acknowledge and thank are overlooked. … Read entire article »

Coincidences? Nope-it's all for a reason.

Coincidences? Nope-it's all for a reason.

Warning: if you don’t believe that things in life have a purpose or a reason, you may not want to continue reading this. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Okay, now that my disclaimer is out of the way and only the believers are left I can continue. When I say believers I am referring to those of us who believe that life is not just a random jumble but that life has an order, a sense and a purpose to it. Of … Read entire article »

Kids Are Sponges

Kids Are Sponges

(Photo courtesy of Horia Varlan ) Kids really are sponges. They hear everything, they see everything, they feel everything and they store away all that knowledge for the proper time. Once again I woke up today with a number of different topics whirling around in my head as potentials to write about. In fact I should say I got out of bed, because if you didn’t really sleep, can you wake up? My 3 1/2 year has been … Read entire article »

Listen To Your Body, Do Your Best To Understand It

Listen To Your Body, Do Your Best To Understand It

(Photo courtesy of Mike Licht, NotionsCapital.com ) Today like every day, there are quite a number of subjects bouncing around in my head waiting for me to write about them. The inside of my brain sounds like my kids arguing with each other. You know what I mean: Me, I want to, I was first, let me…..There has been a very heated battle going on in my head as to which topic deserves to see the … Read entire article »

Dress for Yourself

Dress for Yourself

( Photo courtesy of Akapon Bhothisuwan ) Dressing for yourself was a topic I was going to write about on Saturday night, but after I had gotten an unexpected surprise, I abandoned that topic for the one I ended up writing about. It is interesting how life is. When there is a topic that needs discussing, reminders keep popping up at you and urging you to talk about it. Urging you to share your views. The final … Read entire article »

Help is Not a

Help is Not a 4 Letter Word

Actually it is but you know the kind of I mean. (Photo courtesy of Alexander Baxevanis ) I have been feeling really sick to my stomach since yesterday afternoon. I have been nauseous and have stomach pain. And before you even ask, NO I AM NOT PREGNANT! I think if I was, my husband would be feeling even worse than me. If there is anything I can’t stand more than anything … Read entire article »

Unexpected is Best

Unexpected is Best

I was going to write about a completely different topic today, but an unexpected tag by Heather on Notes from Lapland with a Happy . The award came with the prerequisite that I write a list of the 10 things that make you happy. It wasn’t the award itself per se that made me change my post, but rather the list I came up with. As I wrote the list, I started … Read entire article »

Negative Can Also Be Positive

I originally was going to title this post Violence Isn’t Always Bad, but I thought about it and decided that I didn’t want that to be the title of my lesson learned today. Sure positive lessons can be learned from everything, but violence on its own is not positive. So today’s post as you probably guessed is about violence. Violence is everywhere these days. Our children are exposed to it in the news, on the internet, in movies and TV shows. Some even sadly see it personally. I was 8 months pregnant, walking in broad daylight on 6th Ave in Manhattan and I got mugged. I had my gold necklace ripped right off my neck. All while by big strapping husband (his words but I concur) was standing right next to … Read entire article »

Little Things Makes For Great Romance

Little Things Makes For Great Romance

Romance is something different for every person. For me romance is not about the big momentous occasions or gestures in life, but rather about the simple every day gestures. Romance is not the beautiful wedding proposal while surrounded by friends. It is not the beautiful engagement ring that sparkled away. It is not the beautiful wedding ceremony with hundreds of guests. It is not the fabulous limousine rented after the wedding or the 3 room suite in a fabulous … Read entire article »

Family Traditions: The Glue That Holds Us Together

Family Traditions: The Glue That Holds Us Together

Today my 4th child turned 11. That means he was home today from school and got extra added attention. That seems to be our family birthday tradition that our kids look forward to the most. Kids thrive on certainty. It is what gives them security. Our world these days is so fast paced with things constantly changing. It is a comfort to kids (and adults) to know that certain things do not change. It gives meaning … Read entire article »

Moderation is the Key-Wish I Could Find It!

Moderation is the Key-Wish I Could Find It!

I have spent today reflecting on the fact that I have been out of balance the past few days. I think it may have been the mounting loads of dirty laundry and dishes that actually caused my introspection. According to the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, moderation is: control of your behaviour, so that you keep your actions, feelings, habits etc within reasonable limits. Okay, so I need to find some moderation in my life. I think … Read entire article »

The World is Round & What Goes Around Comes Around

My eldest is getting the credit for the title of my life lesson learned today (not that he knows it). I dropped my son off today at his meet up point with his fellow soldiers on my way to Jerusalem. I was on the way to visit my mother in law who had surgery two days ago and I was unfamiliar with the directions to the hospital. Since I get lost driving around the corner and my son takes after his father and always seems to know where he is going, I asked my son for directions. My son suggested I take Highway 443. His reasoning being,  because of where he is serving in the army, he knows that there have been a number of rock throwings on … Read entire article »

Try to Treat Others the Way You Want to Be Treated

How many times do we find ourselves getting annoyed by someone else’s lack of consideration? This morning I caught myself starting to do just that. As it seems to be happening more and more lately, I was yet again……yup………late to work. I had worked a grueling evening shift in the ER, and somehow I was expected to get up this morning, get the kids out to school  (hubby is away on business) and leave to work by 7:30am (after getting to bed after midnight). Needless to say instead of pulling into the hospital’s staff parking lot at around 8am, it was actually closer to 8:40. Finding a parking spot after 8am is nearly impossible, so understandably I was quite thrilled to see two women walking to a car in the far corner … Read entire article »

Life's Beauty is Comprised of Ordinary & Everyday Moments

Life's Beauty is Comprised of Ordinary & Everyday Moments

Over the years I have many times found myself getting caught up in planning events, making occasions perfect and doing special things for and with those I love. Don’t get me wrong. Those things are important as well, but how many times have I ignored the people I am planning or doing the things for? How many times have we put off things until…………… It seems at least for me that I was always waiting … Read entire article »

Get to Know Your Kids' Friends

Get to Know Your Kids' Friends

My second son turned 18 two weeks ago. (Where did the time go? But that a subject for another day) We are Sabbath observant and he asked to have 6 friends over for the Sabbath in honor of his birthday. Six 18 year old boys=lots and lots of food and cooking. So I worked hard for a few days and Friday afternoon before sundown his 6 friends descended upon us. I expected a lot more draining … Read entire article »

Perfectionism Hampers Progress

For years now I have been trying to write some type of journal every day. Needless to say, perfectionism has always gotten in the way. Sure I start to write and journal, but then inevitably I get caught up in wanting and trying to write everything and I end up giving up because it becomes “too much” for me to handle. It was especially evident to me when I started to journal about my eldest son and his army experiences after he was drafted. It went really well for a few days and then I missed a day, or didn’t have much time and in my eyes it wasn’t “perfect” anymore and I lost my drive to continue doing something that was imperfect. This morning as I am rushing to get … Read entire article »

When You Are Under Time Constraints, Go the Easy and Practiced Way

When You Are Under Time Constraints, Go the Easy and Practiced Way

I got the thought of blogging/journaling like this after a conversation I had with my husband Mark on one of our evening walks. I was telling him how I now believe that something I had gone through years ago I now see was a lesson for me on how to deal with something that was going on now in my life. My very practical husband Mark said, everything in life is a lesson, just crossing … Read entire article »
